Lanxin High-Speed Rail Line is the first long-distance high-speed line under construction in China, connecting Lanzhou with Urumqi.
OEM Technology Solutions has been awarded the contract to supply the HVAC control system for the Lanxin High Speed Rail Line. This Railway HVAC project covers the design, development and manufacture of the PC3111 Rail HVAC Controller.
The existing Lanxin Railway is a 1,903km long passenger line. The initial phase of the passenger line was opened in 1966. The line was then extended in 1990. The whole Lanxin Railway is now double-tracked with the completion of the 21km Wushaoling Tunnel in 2006. The line achieved full electrification in 2013.
A new high-speed line was planned along the route to connect Xinjiang with the rest of China's high-speed rail network. The Lanxin high-speed line was approved by China's National Development and Reform Commission in August 2009 and construction of the new line started three months later.
The high-speed line will allow the existing Lanxin Railway to be used as a freight line exclusively. The rail tracks of the Lanxin high-speed line near Qilianshan Tunnel will be laid at a height of over 3,800m above sea level. It will make Lanxin the world's highest high-speed rail track.
A 67km-long wind-prevent channel will be built in the Gobi Desert as the line traverses through the high wind region. A train on the Lanxin Railway was overturned by strong winds in this region in 2007.
The line is designed to be operated with trains running at speeds up to 300kmph. The travel time between Lanzhou and Urumqi will be reduced to about six hours when the new line enters into service.
